5080 stars for the ASTROLab
at Mont-Mégantic !
May 30, 2007
Yesterday
we installed a graphic acknowledgement panel at the ASTROLab to
thank their contributors for their donations. Beyond simply listing
the generous supporters, this panel was designed to be part of the
exhibition. The panel presents a map of the celestial sphere in
Mollweide format depicting 5080 stars, which are visible to the
naked eye, the Milky Way, the ecliptic and several other astronomy
cartography details. Asides from computing numerous coordinate transformation
algorithms, this complex project required the combination of the
information from different astronomic databases and the list of
more than 1000 contributors to create the final product using graphic
illustration software such as Photoshop and Illustrator.

deserts and the starry night sky. From their seats they traveled
from New-Zealand to British-Columbia, from the Sahara in Libya to
the Mont-Mégantic...
The wind in our sails !
April 2007

which is still at the experimental stage, has been delayed. We apologize
for any inconvenience this may cause. All our services are fully
operational with the exception of the image bank HD CORVUS. Please
don't hesitate to contact us for further information.
